Why can’t I use my Pine Script in the regular TradingView Screener?

Short answer

The regular Screener cannot run a custom Pine script. Use Pine Screener with a compatible indicator instead.

What you may be seeing

  • Your Pine indicator is missing from the Stock Screener filters
  • You cannot select a custom script in the standard Screener
  • A community indicator does not appear as a regular Screener condition

Most likely causes

  1. The standard TradingView Screener only uses built-in filters
  2. Custom Pine scanning is handled through Pine Screener

Try this first

  1. Open Pine Screener rather than the regular Screener
  2. Use a compatible indicator script
  3. Make sure the script exposes data through plot() or alertcondition() as required
  4. Add the relevant script to favorites if needed for Pine Screener access

If that didn’t fix it

  1. Recreate the condition with built-in Screener filters when possible
  2. Use alerts rather than screening if your use case only needs notifications

Verify the fix

Open Pine Screener and confirm the compatible script can be selected and used to scan symbols.

Why this happens

TradingView’s standard screeners use built-in filters rather than arbitrary Pine scripts. TradingView provides a separate Pine Screener for compatible scripts that expose plot() or alertcondition() values.
